How to move around in Rift.

S - Backwards
D - Strafe Right

The same things apply to inventory, left click to select, right click to activate
Combat
To target a mob in Rift Gameplay, click on it. Once you have selected the enemy, click on one of your abilities in the action bar (bottom of the screen), or use the keyboard shortcut bound with the ability (big time saver). in Rift Gameplay, attacking will continue until your enemy dies, or you move far enough away to cease combat.
Remember: abilities have casting and cool down times, so during Rift Gameplay, make sure to remember this when selecting the ability you want to use, if the ability is on cooldown you can't use it, or worse, if you select an ability that has a long cast time, it could mean the difference between success and death.
After you have killed a mob in Rift Gameplay, you can interact with the dead body (right click on it), and then click the items you want to loot, or click LOOT ALL. Looted items are added to your bags. If you don't have any bag slots left, you will not be able to loot the items.
Equiping items
Press B to open your inventory, and right click on an item to equip it. For some items, you cannot use them because of your class or level. Items you can equip will have a white label.
If you want to un-equip an item, press C to open your character sheet, and right click the item you want to un-equip.
Now the fun stuff...how to level up
In Rift Gameplay, you level up by slaying things, getting experience for everything you kill, and also completing quests. When you have enough experience, you automagically gain a level.
Levelling up improves you stats and also gives you soul points, which you can assign to an ability. Do this by pressing N, and then click the ability you want to improve, or acquire. If you want to check your character stats, press C.
Training and Callings
When you first build your character in Rift Gameplay, you have to select a calling. The current callings are warrior, mage, cleric, and rogue.
You can get more abilities by visiting a trainer who specializes in your players calling, and paying them to grant or improve a skill.
Remember: make sure to assign all of your soul points before seeing the trainer. Do this by pressing N.
When you are ready to visit the trainer for your calling, right click on them, and select the skill you want to increase. It costs to improve an ability, and the price will be displayed when you select the ability. Click TRAIN to purchase the training.
Abilities
In Rift Gameplay, new abilities are automagically added to your action bar if there is space for it.
Press P, and then drag abilities directly to the action bar if you want to change them.
If you hover over a skill, it will tell you more about the ability.
To use an ability, press on it in the action bar, or press the associated keyboard number.
Crafting
You are allowed to have three crafting abilities active at once.
If you want to get a craft, visit the relevant trainer to gain that skill. You can find craft trainers at main quest hubs. Training crafts is done in the same fashion as training skills for your calling.
If you already have three crafts, and want to unlearn one so that you can learn another, you can pay a trainer to get rid of one.
When you use your crafting skill, your proficiency increases. When you reach a certain level, you can visit the craft trainer again to gain other recipies.
You are required to stand next to a crafting station to use a trade skill.. press the comma key to open your crafting window and highlight a skill, then select a recipe that you have all the materials for. Once you have done this, press CRAFT.
You are required to stand next to a resource you want to gather when using a gathering skill.. Right click the resource, and then gather it.
When you craft or gather something, it will show up in your inventory.
Quests
Quests are the best way to gain levels when playing alone in Rift Gameplay.
Quest givers have a yellow exclamation point over their head. Right click the quest giver to see what quests are available. You can see what the objective of the quest is, and what reward you get for finishing it.
When you accept a quest, press L to see it in your quest log. You should also be able to see the quest on the right hand side of your screen..
When you have completed a quest, follow the quest info to find out who to see to collect your reward. Sometimes this is the quest giver, and sometimes it is another character. You can identify the character to hand in to by looking for a tick above them.
The map can show you to where quest objectives can be completed.
Merchants
Merchants buy and sell goods such as supplies and equipment.
Right click on a merchant, and then right click on an item in your inventory to get rid of it. If you want to buy from a merchant, right click on the item you want to purchase.
You can purchase back items from a merchant if you sold them by mistake. Up to the last 20 items can be bought back.
Death
Even the best of players die from time to time. In Rift Gameplay, when you die for the first time, you will be offered the chance to Respawn, or Soul Walk.
Soul Walk can only be done once every hour. When you pick Soul Walk, you have 15 seconds to move away from the danger before coming back to life.
When you Respawn, you appear at the nearest respawn platform where you can resume gameplay, or travel back to where your corpse is and start from there.
Occasionally when you Respawn at a resurrection pad, you will get a penalty, which results in your soul being hurt and your max health being reduced. You can visit a soul healer to fix this. Soul Healers can be found near resurrection pads.
